IT focuses on which software tool must be selected to complete a particular task & IT is mostly the application part of CS, Where as CS give emphasis on the Algorithmic part of computer sciences with the knowledge of hardware. CS takes a more balanced approach between theory and application while IT focuses more on application.

In terms of placement both are more or less same, rest depends on your interest. The companies which hire CSE students also hire IT students.

The major difference between both these field is that IT deals with the application of computing technology to real life processes, while, Computer Science deals with the science that facilitates these applications. To make it short and simple, Computer Science is the creation of software and hardware by using different programming skills. On the other hand, IT is just the selection of the proper software or hardware for the task.
There is not much difference in terms of placement. Both the cse and IT graduate, placed in Private Sectors or IT companies.
All the Top MNCs recruit both cse and IT graduates.
Subjects throughout the course are almost same in both cse and IT.
