EWS certificate is only valid for one year from the date of issuance. So you should check it's validity at the time of application. If you want to apply for exam in EWS category than you have to submit the latest EWS certificate which should be valid at the date of submission according to the above said criteria. EWS certificate is only used for 10% reservation  for economically weaker section of the society in Higher education and government jobs.
