The apex court’s order has make women eligible to join NDA, which was formally inaugurated 66 years ago and was thus far a male preserve, came almost three decades after they were allowed to serve in select branches of the army, air force and navy as short-service commission (SSC) officers.

Yes, girls can also apply for NDA.

The eligibility criteria for this are:

1. Nationality

a) A subject of Nepal or

b) A subject of Bhutan or

c) People of Indian origin migrated from Zaire, Ethiopia, East African Countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Burma, Pakistan, Zambia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam to settle in India or

d) Tibetan refugees came to India, to settle in India before January 1, 1962.

2. Age limit- upper age 18.7 years and lower age 15.7 years

3. Educational qualification- For Army wing- 10+2 exam and for Ari force wing and naval wing is Passing certificate for class 12th

4. physical fitness-

Should not be suffering from any minor following problems- Deviated Nasal septum

- Hydrocele, Phomosis

- Overweight or underweight

- piles, tonsillitis

- under sized chest

Height- 152 CM and 148 CM for girls of Gorkhas, garhwal and kumaon

Weight- is considered according to their height.
