Yes, your 12th/intermediate MPC marks are useful at a number of places.
For example,

Similarly,
For admission in NITs, IITs etc one needs at least 75 % in 12th for general category, though for this year this criteria isn't there.
So,
The higher you get in 12th MPC, the better it is.
In general, you should target at least 80 % in 12th which is considered a decent score while 90 % is considered very good and 95+% is considered excellent.
Again,
If you get admission anywhere for bsc etc on the basis of merit then your 12th marks becomes very important as on its basis you will get admission
But when it comes to being eligible for government jobs like ssc chsl etc then your 12th % doesn't matter at all, just passing% is required to be eligible
