Ho aspirant,
Preparatory rank here means you did not get a rank in jee advanced rank list. The vacant seats for reserved categories are alloted to these rank students for admission to a preparatory course. You will be prepared for a year in IIT and after a year you will be declared pass or fail based on your performance. If you pass it you'll be admitted to undergraduate course from next academic session.
Hope you are clear with it.

Is there any reservation for sc category in thapar university

From what is known till now there is no seat reservation for sc category. There is reservation for punjab students(50%), sports person(3%), over and above seats, and children of thapar university employees. Hope you are clear with it.
