As you know that JEE Mains is conducted twice a year but JEE advanced only once. Coming to your question, the overall students qualifying for JEE Advanced is actually considered by taking the best rank out of the two Mains. The counseling criteria is also fulfilled by taking into account the best of the two ranks.
So yes you can very well say that even after the JEE Mains in September, if the January rank is better than that has a definite consideration in getting you your desired college or branch.

This year CSAB Removes minimum 75 percent percent marks minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates applying for CSAB need to obtain a passing certificate only.

Pratik, as per the rules under jee mains admission, candidates can attempt jee mains twice a year. And the best score out of the two will be considered for admission. However, if you want take admission in next year with this year's marks then it will not be considered.
