If you belong to general category then 84 percentile is not sufficient to get into any of the nits, iiits or any top ranked colleges,

Although you might get some low ranked college but that won't get you wide career opportunities, hence you must take a drop and try to score more than 97+ percentile in order to get into nits.

Since your boards marks are also below 75% then you have to give the improvement exam as well, because the criteria of getting a nit is also 75% in boads, this year due to corona this was not the criteria.
