Lactose is a disaccharide which is made up of two monosachharide units. Saccharides mean sugar units.  Two sugar units, Glucose and Galactose make combine together to form Lactose. The two units are joined by - 1,4- glycosidic linkage. Lactose is a reducing sugar found in milk.
