Line Organisation is one of the most basic organizational structures. It is very simple, easy to understand and operate. It is the oldest and the simplest form of management where the authority flows from top to bottom. In a line organisation, the person is responsible for everyone under him/her and reports to the one just above him.
Functional organisation divides the structure into different functions like HR, IT, Marketing etc. and each person is responsible for the department they are working in. The authority is divided basis the specialisation of the individual. This structure is slightly complex and difficult to understand.
