Hi

Assuming that you are either from General or SC category since the GATE cutoff for mechanical for both these categories is high, I would recommend you to appear in GATE 2018 and score better this time.

You must be knowing that GATE scores for PSU recruitment are considered for the same year, however there are some exceptions though.

To tell you, right now some PSU are recruiting candidates on the basis of GATE 2016 and 2017 scores.
