MAT exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions to MBA/PGDM courses offered at more than 600 B-schools in India.CAT exam gives you an edge over the Mat exam as clearing CAT exam with good and required percentile will take you to the IIMs.

If you are talking about the admissions to graduate business programs (MBA) globally then you are required to give GMAT (The Graduate Management Admission Test).

Yes, if you cannot prepare for CAT examination you can opt for any other entrance examination, yeah the value of Examination may be lesser but it's surely valuable then getting admission without any examination. MAT is known to be top 2nd entrance examination for MBA. No worries

You have many optional entrance examinations like MAT,XAT, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT etc, you can opt any of them and do check the college status in which you want admission as which entrance examination is its offering.
