The MCA lateral is a two year programme unlike the usual MCA which is a three year program. MCA lateral means entering the MCA course in the second year.
If you are studying MCA lateral then it is presumed that you have basic knowledge of computer science or you have completed your BCA and B.Sc in Computer Science at your undergraduation.
basic eligibility to pursue MCA Lateral is that the candidates should have passed Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA/B.Sc. (IT/Computer Science) with Mathematics/Statistics as a subject at 10+2 level or at graduation level with atleast 50% marks and 45% in case of SC/ST candidates.
Both MCA and MCA lateral awards post graduation degree.
