If under the same university or technical institute, a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering will always be better in terms of career scope and prospects than Mechanical Engineering. In Today's date, EE and ECE have the best placements in respective university after CSE or IT. In India itself there is a huge requirement of Electrical amd Electronics Engineers in all sectors be it in Technology, IT or Industrial and Operations domains, in both the Public and Private sectors.

However, in case you are getting Mechanical Engineering at a Much Higher Technical Institute like Top IITs or NITs, you may prefer that over Electrical Engineering at a Lower Institute of Private University, subject to your decision. Most institutes like IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani, DTU too have good Mechanical Engineering Departments with excellent faculty and research facilities as well as a great employer outlook.
