MCA in IT is generally regarded as the better course in terms of job opportunities. Still, the average salaries that graduates of both courses can get initially range around 1.5-3 lacs per annum.

- You CV (internship, projects, work experience, etc.)

- Your personality and your aptitude

For higher pay brackets similar to b.tech IT graduates (around 3-6 lacs per annum) MCA (IT) students are preferred over M.Sc. IT students.
