M. Tech. Food Process Engineering is 2 year post graduate course which educate students with the principles of different aspects of food and specialization in an area of food process engineering. The general prerequisites needed for the course is a B. Tech. or B.E. graduation degree. The students opting for this course acquire skills of plant design, innovation of products and processes with their optimization techniques.
Admission to this course in most of the colleges is done through GATE score. The approximate tuition fee of the course varies from INR 2 Lakh to INR 4 Lakh depending on the stratum of the colleges.

Different profiles waiting for M. Tech Food Process degree holders are Food Technologists, Organic Chemists, Product Developer, Food Microbiologist and Marketing specialist. If studied thoroughly, this course can help students build a lucrative career for themselves. On completion of M. Tech. Food Process Engineering students can earn approximately 25,000 INR to 30,000 INR monthly and get well placed in government as well as private sectors.

M. Tech Food process Technology is the study of food chemicals, nutrition value and biochemistry concepts related to different arenas of food and packaging items. Students are trained on basic engineering topics in reference to fruits and vegetables, grains, oil seeds, plantation crops, meat, poultry, milk process and preservation techniques.
Different studies related to Post Harvest Technology such as drying and dehydration, heat and mass transfer, Storage Engineering, Seed Technology and physical properties of biological materials are an integral part of the course.
