Qualifying Exam

10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in both Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized Board; candidates from NIOS Board are ineligible - Gap year between Class 11 and 12 is not permitted.

Minimum Age Requirement

17 years as on December 31, 2018.

Candidates must be born on or before January 1, 2002.

Maximum Age Limit

25 years till date of exam for Unreserved candidates; 30 years till date of exam for Reserved category candidates

Unreserved candidates must be born on or after May 7, 1993 and Reserved candidates must be born on or after May 7, 1988.


NEET Eligibility Criteria 2018 -MBBS and BDS aspirants can check here the NEET 2018 eligibility criteria as specified by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduation (NEET UG) will be conducted on May 6, 2018, in offline mode. The eligibility criteria of NEET 2018 specifies the academic qualifications, age limit, residency status and other requirements that must be met by all candidates appearing for the entrance exam. The NEET eligibility criteria 2018 has reintroduced the controversial upper age limit rule. Another major NEET 2018 eligibility criteria change which has taken place is that NIOS board and open school students who were allowed to appear for NEET 2017 are not be allowed to appear for the exam from 2018 onwards. Candidates who have only studied Biology as an additional subject in Class 12 and not as a core subject in both Classes 11 and 12 are also not allowed to appear. However, as per an interim order passed by the Delhi High Court, all of these candidates are allowed to apply for the exam before a final decision regarding the eligibility criteria is made on April 16, 2018.

 I would like to add something. The Delhi high Court has decided the criteria of NEET eligibility for upper age, NIOS, year gap and others, all are allowed to fill the application form. According to the eligibility criteria mention by MCI, the number of attempts limitation has been removed and new rule is given in age criteria. The candidate can appear for NEET upto 25 years of his age for general category and 30 years for reserved category.
