 Well to get a seat in NITs one needs to clear JEE Mains cutoff as per their category. If one has cleared the cutoff then he is eligible to get a seat in NITs but exactly which branch he/she will get that is hard to tell as cutoff for branches differs from one NIT to another. Below  I have listed 2019 JEE Mains cutoff category wise -

• CRL : 89.75
• GEN-EWS : 78.21
• OBC-NCL : 74.31
• SC : 54.01
• ST : 44.33
• PwD : 0.11

Now as per your friends SC rank it will be hard for him to get any NITs as he is from MP. Since he is from MP, NIT Bhopal was available to him but on the basis of previous years cutoff it will be difficult for him to a seat there.

Just tell your friend  not to get down or loose confidence. Try for other collges also where JEE Mains score is accepted. I am sure he would get a nice college.
