Hello,

I would like to tell you that generally the seats in the colleges are filled as per the merit list prepared by the counseling authorities. So they consider your All India Rank for seat allotment.

But government of India has provided certain reservation for students belonging to certain categories. As your profile mentions you are an engineering Aspirant. I would like to tell you the reservation in engineering colleges for students -

• General Economically Weaker Sections (GEN-EWS) - 10%

• Scheduled Castes (SC) - 15%

• Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 7.5%

• Non-Creamy Layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 27%

• Persons with Disabilities - 5% in each category

Now for these students their merit in Category decided if they will get seat in the college or not. So for seat allotment both All India rank and Category rank play definite role.

I hope you find the answer helpful

Thank you.
