You can convert following NITs under Mechanical engineering :

NIT Mizoram, Sri agar, sikkim, Manipur, Silchar, Puducherry, Arunachal pradesh, Nagaland.
Assam University

All these have fantastic chances with conversion.

You can also cinvert private engineering colleges like GL bajaj and LM Thapar for Mechanical engineering.
