NTA Shreshta stands for Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas and it is conducted by the National Testing Agency This scheme is designed to support meritorious students from Scheduled Caste backgrounds by offering them admission into top residential schools across India The selection is done through a national level entrance exam called the Shreshta exam which is held every year by NTA Students studying in class eight or class ten and belonging to scheduled caste families with low income are eligible to apply for this exam The selected students get free education including tuition hostel food and other necessary support in CBSE affiliated reputed residential schools The aim of the scheme is to provide equal educational opportunities and quality learning environments to help them excel in future academic and professional careers
