Hello student the admission in any NIT's is through Jossa counselling afte the Jee main April examination (now July) after both the examination NTA will release your rank on the basis of best of two percentile you've scored in both the Jee main examination.
So the final admission in any NIT's is not on the basis of percentile but on the basis of rank.

Hello,

Your percentile and number of candidates appeared in the exam will determine your rank.Seats are allotted to the candidates in JoSAA counselling based on their ranks.You can calculate your expected rank by the formula (100-ypur total percentile)*869010/100

In January 869010 candidates appeared in JEE Main.In July session 12,00,000 candidates are expected to appear then your expected rank can be calculated by the formula (100-your total percentile)*1200000/100
