Psychologist do have opportunity to work in public sector, Like after completing PhD in Psychology you can apply for the job role of assistant professors in government colleges/universities and you can kick start your career as a Academician.

you can even become a scientist in organisations like DRDO etc.

If you are a Clinical Psychologist you may work in Government hospitals like AIIMS, IHBAS, CIP, NIMHANS, IMHH etc.

You can work as a Counselor in Government Schools/colleges.
