What matters is the knowledge you gain during your engineering course.

You should try to get good cgpa in BTech inorder to increase your chances of getting job.

You should also take part in extra curricular activities and be active in college.

there are many students in engineering drop one year before starting btech.

in this one year some students try for different exam or some prepare for entrance exam to get a better score .

mnc's like tcs, infosys, wipro , cts has one year gap in education is acceptable. so for google.

work hard , learn well, you will definitely get your job.

Yes, there is a good chance, depending on what you fid with that one year. You used your time to code new and useful projects? Thats what they are going to ask you in the interview. They dont care about what forced you to take the drop. Rather they are more interested on what you did when put in a tough situation like that.
