Pgdm is post graduate diploma in management. It's a diploma course not a degree. It can be considered equivalent to degree only if it is recognised by AIU.

Mba offers more of a theoretical based knowledge. It's course is regulated by the University it is affiliated with and universities doesn't change their curriculum easily. Whereas pgdm course structure is regularly regulated & is as per aicte standards. Mba is only helpful if you want to go for more higher studies but pgdm helps you to be market ready with a lot of practical knowledge along with theory. You can go for phd after mba but not after pgdm (untill recognised by AIU)

Students chose pgdm more as it develops them with practical knowledge that is the requirement of current market as per market changes.
