As you said whether or not you should get a job at the expense of your studies? the answer is NO. You do not need to aim for a job that causes you to sacrifice your study and since you had the courage to discontinue a college and then opt for B.Comm then it must be a course of your interest. However, regarding financial situation, you could look at alternatives such as you could talk at the interview with McDonalds to give you a part-time job considering you are still a student OR you could look for tutoring classes or anything that you can manage along with your studies. You are in this situation then you will be able to handle it. Ask your parents and seek guidance from your teachers as well, do not make rash and hasty decisions.

You can take the job offer at Mc.Donalds as part time as long as you are sure you will still be able to do well in your academics simultaneously.If you find it too difficult to do so, then there are other ways you can make some pocket money like taking tuitions, doing some free lance work, doing internships, working on the weekends, etc.

The main thing is whatever you do, you should ensure that you do not get distracted and will still be focussed and do well in your course.
