With the advent of consultancy, data analytics and data science companies in the placement sessions and making them open to branches like Mechanical has increased the upper limits of packages availed at IITs by mechanical engineers, however, core companies have more better packages for a much harder job at a core company.

In core companies, packages vary from 4.5- 12 lakhs p.a while in non core companies it may go as high as 2530 lakhs p.a.

So if somebody lands into mechanical by choice, he/she might as well prepare for non core jobs to make easy fast money.
