Hello,

Today most of the government jobs requires you to crack specific exams. If we talk about placement then you won't be getting government job through place if you do engineering. You will have to appear for exams like GATE, IES/ESE, UPSC Civil Services examination, SSC or any other exam.
You will have to be appear for its particular examination and appearing in exams like UPSC CSE doesn't require you to have a certain branch graduate. you can be graduated from any to appear for the exams.

I hope this helps.

Hello aspirant.  Yes off course if you want government job then civil engineering is best option.  But if you want private job then civil engineering is bad option.
