If you have missed JEE Advance by only some margin then you should drop or if you think you have ability to prepare yourself well enough then also you can take a 1 year break.

If you are getting any good college, no need to drop 1 year for jee preparation. But, if you are not getting i and you are confident that you can prepare for jee and get good rank, you can drop 1 year. If you drop, you should remain focused and work hard from the first day to last day to achieve it. It's your choice. All the best.

If you feel that you can reach to an IIT for sure and you are determined to work that hard then you can and if you unsure with a doubt that you may get distracted a day from the dedication then don't drop.
