Hello dear  would not recommend you to drop a year for preparing a competitive examination. Competition exam like JEE is not a easy task to clear just by studying one year. You have to be focused and consistent to your studies atleast for 2 years to fetch a good IIT.One year of drop after 12 standard will give you stress and no success.I would recommend you to take a foundation course in any of a good coaching cause this is reality that board exams are quite different  from exams like JEE Advanced. So,please consider this otherwise it is very common that droppers waste their money and precious time of 1 year in coaching and get only stress. So if you are serious then join a good coaching institute and work hard.A drop is only advised to students who are preparing to improve their rank otherwise it is a wastage of resources.

Hope this helps.

Hello Ravinder

Taking coaching for JEE depends on your goal which college you want is it NIT , IIT then you need to take a break if you are not taking any coaching in 11th or 12th and also depends on the marks when

you will go for thr JEE Main and UPSEE the marks and college you will get at the time of counselling.

If you have not cleared JEE this year and are dedicated to go to a reputed engineering college, then yes you can take a drop year for JEE. But, note that taking a drop year does not guarantee that you will score well. Many students take upto 3 drop years and still do not get a good college. It is because not all students are made for cracking JEE and becoming engineers. If you scored a good rank in JEE this year and believe that you can do better, then take a drop year by all means. But, if you did not even clear it and the subjects are not interesting to you, then I suggest look for other options.

Dear Aspirant,

If you have performed 100+ marks in your this year attempt without any coaching then I suggest that you should take a drop and prepare again. With the increase in so much online content, you could easily learn things over the internet even if you do not join any coaching. Here are a few links to assist you further:-

However, if you have performed below 100 and you are not going to take any coachings too, then I suggest you should not take a drop year, rather take admission in some good private college. Because if your basics are not good then you will not be able to do anything much on your own and your result will remain pretty much same next year too.

Hope this helps.

Comment your doubts, if any.

Thank You.

Hello student if you have potential that you'll crack  jee in next attempt by focusing your hole year on prepararing for it then yes you should take a year drop but if in case there's little doubt plz don't take drop as one whole year matter alot and it passes very fast.

Feel free to comment if you have any doubt

Good luck
