One thing which you should remember is that taking drop requires a lot of patience and hard work , as for a whole year you would have to concentrate only on your studies and there would not be much time for other activities . Thus if you think you have the determination to able to concentrate for one year then you should go with it .
Still you have your September mains and advanced with you , give your best attempt , and then if you feel that you can perform better next time you can go for it and get your dream college next year .

Taking a drop or not is your choice , but if you are willing to take a drop you must not waste your time and study double your time. You must first understand the basics from the NCERT books and practice from reference books and solve papers.
Also check with your family if they are ok of you taking a drop.
