Hi Kapil,

Yes, you can do MBA in any field. It is not mandatory to have a commerce background for doing MBA. Every year there are lot of B.Tech students who persue MBA. Regarding specialisation, since you are a fresher then you can chose any specialisation of your choice. Many Elite colleges like IIM's offer degree in General Managemnt only. You have an option to select te subjects based on your interest in second year.

Since you are a fresher, marketing would be best option for you. But you can chose from any specialisation like operations, Finance, IT,HR based on your interest.

I would sugget you to focus on preparing for CAT as specialisation is a secondary point to consider.

All the Best

You can do an MBA from any field you want. The eligibility criteria for MBA is only having a bachelor degree with 50% overall. There are many branches of MBA, and all are having good scopes in terms of career and job prospects, so choose according to your interest. You can also do research after doing an MBA if that interests you more rather than a job. Take your time, search through all the resources available in the internet, see what is taught in each field and then match it with your interests. Then you will be able to figure out which field you should choose.

Hope it helps!

Yes my friend you can definitely do MBA. You know 80-90 % of the students who get admission in top MBA colleges like IIMs are engineers who doesn't have any prior knowledge to what's gonna be taught.

So you don't worry about the later part you can definitely catch up with others what you need to worry about now is your CAT, XAT and other MBA exams conducted by various private colleges. Just getting a good percentile is not enough to get admission in a good college it's a very complicated procedure in which the aggregate score made to call you for interview round also includes parameters like 10th, 12th, graduation marks, work experience, engineers or non engineer, gender diversity along with your CAT marks.

Every college has a different pattern and give different weightage to these parameters but what I mean to say you need to have a strong academic background along with very high percentile in order to get a top college.

You don't need to worry about which stream you need to go for because you will able to understand it in a better way when you start studying and there's no good or bad stream, every one is good by itself. In IIMs you get a whole 1st year where you are taught subjects from all streams and then are freely allowed to choose subjects from any stream in 2nd year. So you get enough time to figure out your comfort stream. In IIMs we get General Management degree there is no major or minor but in private colleges where major minor is practiced right from starting then you can go for Finance and Marketing stream according to your education background theybseems to be good. Even if they don't turn to be of your comfort then you can change your domain later.

You should start studying hard if you are thinking to give CAT this year because you are pretty late or if you are thinking of next year then start with basics make them strong becuase these exams are a game of speed with accuracy.

All the best!!
