With an All India rank of around 19,000 in general category, it becomes difficult to procure a seat in the government IHM's when comparing the results of previous years in first round. Last year, the closing ranks for the central government IHM's were around 6,000 and the closing ranks for state government IHM's were around 13,000. But you can apply for private institutes. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that scores and ranks vary each year with difficulty level of the question paper and availability of seats.
