As for getting into an NIT firstly your JEE mains marks are viewed. Now as you have achieved 79 percentile then this might not get you into any top NIT's in any branch. With this score you can try getting into some good state college(Govt. / Private) or may give JEE mains again.

As you got 56 percent in board exams so you are not eligible to qualify JEE-Main. The Institutes like NITs, IIITs or GFTIs are off limit for you.
