Hello Prithu, your percentage in CBSE board exams is good. Taking a drop should be considered based on these factors.

1. Your determination to do B.Tech or B.E.

2. Are you really interested in studying engineering bachelors.

3. Can you afford another year of time and money for coaching.

4.  The reason why you did not write JEE mains this year.

I would suggest that choosing an option and moving ahead is better.

The JEE Mains allow students for about two years after Class 12 to apply for the exam. So as you pass Class 12 in 2019, you can appear for entrance exam of JEE Mains 2020. JEE occurs twice every year. You have chances in January as well as April session of 2020.
