Even if we consider new NITs, you will have to wait till the last special rounds in order to secure a seat and that too in not so good branch. There is a chance of you getting a NIT if you go for special rounds, otherwise it is hard. And inspite of taking poor branch in a new NIT, you can try for a good state college.
