The NSO(National Science Olympiad) takes place in two levels, Level 1 and Level 2.

To apply for Level 1 exam, there are no criteria for minimum marks , so the Olympiad is open to all school students.

But, only the students who perform well in Level 1 exam will be shortlisted for Level 2.

Students who will be eligible for level 2 are:

1. Top 5% of the students from each class who appeared for Level 1 exam
2. Top 25 zone wise rank holders from each class
3. Class toppers from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam and score 50% qualifying marks.

So, as per your question you can take the NSO exam.

you can take up the national Olympiad. you can go even with fail in 2 subs. but what i recommend is, if you are already prepared for your olympiad, then you must be able to clear your class 12 for those 2 subjects. if you think you can clear the olympiad then you may proceed with it. only if you are sure. dont just waste your time.
