Usually the cut off for different colleges are high for ME branch.In that case if you are from GEN/OBC you will not get even NITs or IIITs or GFTIs .
But if you belong to SC/ST then you have chances that you might get NIT /IIITs and GFTIs .
Also you can try for other interdisciplinary branches in these colleges.The cut off for interdisciplinary branches are slightly low.
You can try for state engineering colleges/Universities you will easily get that if you are GEN/OBC.
