First of all it depends on your interest that you want to choose CS or IT.Both are good in B.tech.In difficulty CS is difficult than it because in you have to deal with lot of abstract mathematics and theoretical computer science whereas in IT it is not.Both have much scope in private sector.In many colleges placement is also same for CS and IT.

Both are equally good branches and level of difficulty is also the same. You will have to focus on programming in order to succeed in both the branches. If you gain some skills during the college days then you will definitely get placed in a top IT firm.
You can choose any of them as scope is almost the same.
