Good to know you are interested to join OTA . OTA provides training to both male and female cadets who grow up to become bullet bodied officers to serve the nation . The academy apart from providing harsh training , builds up willpower and enthusiasm , a spirit of adventure , moral values and toughness . Along with physical fitness a strong mental awareness and strength is what the institution demands .
For getting into OTA , there are several criterias .
As per your query it's not possible to get into OTA after 12 th for girls . There are other ways to join which I shall jott down below :

• Through CDSE - both men and woman can join OTA by combined defence service exam . This exam is being held twice a year . The minimal education qualification is BSC/BA/BCA/B.COM from any recognised university . Apart from this a medical fitness test is conducted as the final entry .
• Through SSC Technical - this is for men and woman who are technical graduates . Here no written exam is considered rather the selection is based on the cut off percentage of qualifying exam that is engineering . Later interview and medical checkup are mandatory .
• NCC special entry - it is even for both men and woman , who are graduates in LLB/ LLM . They must have served the NCC senior division army with minimal B grade in C certificate . The aggregate marks in graduation shouldn't be less than 50% .
• Judge Advocate entry - candidates with an aggregate of 55% marks in LLB are eligible to apply .

The age limit is 19-24 years for a candidate with a perfect physical health . The marital status should be unmarried / single . Even problems of eyesight are considered for rejecting your application . Along with physical fitness mental strength is determined as a criteria for selection .

The exam consists of a written paper with 100 marks in English and 100 in marks in general knowledge . That makes a total of 200 marks . The written exam is followed by interview and finally the medical fitness which calls for maximum rejection and the best candidates are shortlisted .

The training period of 49 weeks makes both men and woman strong officers . Apart from being a woman they recognise themselves as officers first . So all the harsh combact they face remains same for both men and woman . They are trained for effective guarding of national boarder , assisting civil administration during natural calamities , overcoming internal disturbances and peace keeping missions too .

There are presently two OTA in Chennai and one is Gaya , that provide a disciplined life to the cadets .
