Sreenivas sells a table to Shiva at 10% profit and Shiva sells it to Mahesh at 10% loss. At what price did sreenivas purchase the table if mahesh paid rs.2178?

hi,

suppose srinivas purchase the table at x rs.

he sell it to Shiva at 10% profit. so the selling price is x+ x*10%= 11x/10.

now Shiva sells it to mahesh at 10% loss.

so Shivas selling price to mahesh is 11x/10- (11x/10)*10%= 99x/100.

now,

99x/100= 2178.

by solving the equation x is 2200, who is the purchased price of table by srinivas.
