For B.A 1st year the syllabus is :

Unit I:
Physical features of the Punjab and their impact on history.
Harappan Culture : Principal places, town planning; features of social, economic and religious life;
causes of disappearance.
The Indo-Aryans : Original home and settlement in Punjab; Social, Economic and Religious life
during the Rigvedic Age.


Unit-II
Origin and evolution of the caste system, its merits and demerits.
The Ramayana and Mahabharta and their historical importance.
The teachings of Buddhism and Jainism and their impact on the Punjab.
