Hey ..
I think the formula for velocity of a particle in SHM is
Velocity = omega ( amplitude - displacement )
So the answer for the given terms would be
V = w (a-x)
w= 2/T.     where T is time period
w= 2 rad /sec
a = 5 cm
x = 3 cm
So V = 8 cm/sec
