Correct Answer: 48,900
Solution : Total Population = 3,11,250 The ratio between women and men is 43 : 40. So, the number of women = $\frac{43}{43+40}$ × 311250 = 1,61,250 and the number of men = $\frac{40}{43+40}$ × 311250 = 1,50,000 Also, there are 24% of literate among men and 8% of literate among women. Total number of literate person in town = (161250 × $\frac{8}{100}$) + (150000 × $\frac{24}{100}$) = 48,900 Hence, the correct answer is 48,900.
