there is some minimal difference in my caste certificate and my 10th, 12th marksheet. In marksheet there is a space in my father's name like 'Shiv Nandan' and in my caste certificate it is 'Shivnandan'. will my caste certificate be valid in jossa counseling.

Hello Ashutosh,

A mere difference such as a space in your father's name spelling (e.g. "Shiv Nandan" vs. "Shivnandan") should not be a concern as long as it is very clear that both documents relate to the same individual. This sort of minor deviation is commonplace and should generally be acceptable in verification processes like JoSAA counselling. To avoid issues, you can carry a self-declaration affidavit or a certificate from a local authority regarding both names. It is also worth checking with the JoSAA helpdesk or official documentation for specific requirements.

hi,

If there's a slight difference in your name between your caste certificate and your 10th or 12th marksheets (like spelling or order), it might not cause immediate rejection, but it can create issues during document verification for college admissions, government exams, or counselling. It's best to either:

  1. Get an affidavit from a notary explaining that both names refer to the same person, or

  2. Apply for correction in the document with the error.

This will help ensure a smooth admission process without confusion or delays.
