As per previous analysis,  if you want to achieve a good rank under 1000 , so u have to score 55+ marks in GATE exam .

Dear aspirant,
In GATE exam the number of questions are 65 and the total marks is 100 marks. As per previous few years data to achieve a rank of 1000 you need to score minimum 55 marks, even it can be said that 60 is a safe score to get a rank below 1000.

Based on the quality level of gate paper, ranks and gate score changes every year. The total marks in gate are 100 marks. One common thing  can be observed is 53-58 marks can certainly give u rank below 1000. So to get rank below 1000, you need to score a  minimum of 53 marks.
