Regarding ECE in VIT Chennai.. it's a great department.. the infrastructure are truly world class.. the coursework is as par industry needs.. professors are actively collaborating with industries & academia to carry out great research.

Coming to the placement statistics, around 2–3 companies come in super dream category offering about 10lpa. These companies hire a total of around 4 to 5 students, from Chennai campus. The largest recruiter among these is Cisco.Dream category companies that visit the campus are around 10–15 which give decent salaries. They normally take up 30–40 students from Chennai campus.

The rest of the students go in Service based mass recruiters like Wipro, TCS, Infosys etc.So if you are a bright student and can maintain a CGPA of around 8.5 or more with no arrears, and you work hard for placements you can get into a company that will give you around 6–7lpa easily.

The placements in VIT Chennai are very good for all the branches and most of the students get placed in the ECE branch. Although the number of students enrolled in the course is very large and therefore the competition is very tough for the top companies. Hope this helps.
