I take it you gave wbjee this year and have some scope of coming to chemical engineering department.If you are worried about placements dont be placements are good and many people are placed in core companies and others and also some are placed off campus.People also are regularly placed in PSUs through GATE and also those who pursue higher studies go to IISc and IITs though these are mainly the credit to the students personal efforts.

You will get detailed information of placement of previous years on quora if you search so i will exclude that.

Overall i don’t think you will regret it.
