There are alot of benefits of doing or securing PhD from foreign. Firstly, you get better facilities for your research work, more dedicated and specialised mentors, you get higher pay, and much better work environment and opportunities. This does not mean that doing PhD from India is not good, but it's still evolving day by day here. The basic steps for pursuing PhD abroad are, first and the most important, you need to focus on your graduation UG and pg( because some countries require pg degree) , you need a good score throughout. By this time you should decide and be clear on the area of your interest for research. In the meantime, you should attend as many research programs as you can through internships, working as assistant etc., Don't substitute your master's thesis with course work as it will be asked to you in future. Establish networks. Attend conferences and strike meaningful conversations with potential supervisors. They play a big role in your application process abroad.  Decide your field of research and prepare beforehand in your last semester. Some institutions require GRE and english proficiency test, so plan it well. Pass your semester with good marks and apply for the PhD in the institute of your choice.
