The inguinal region of the body, also known as the groin, is located on the lower portion of the anterior abdominal wall, with the thigh inferiorly, the pubic tubercle medially, and the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) superolaterally.

The contents of the inguinal canal -

In males-

IIt consist of the spermatic cord (with the genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve) and the ilioinguinal nerve.

In female -

T he contents include the round ligament, genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve, and the ilioinguinal nerve.

Hello,

Inguinal canal is an oblique pathway situated in the lower part of anterior abdominal wall just above the medial half of inguinal ligament.

Contents of Inguinal Canal are as follows :

  • Spermatic Cord in male and Round ligament in females
  • Ilioinguinal nerve. It enters through the interval between internal oblique and external oblique muscles
  • Genital branch of genitofemoral nerve is a constituent of spermatic cord
