I have listed the eligibility criteria for becoming assistant professor below referring UGC guidelines:

1.The candidates, who wish to get appointed as an assistant professor should possess the SET/SLET, NET certificates and have a Masters degree too.

2.You must have minimum of 55% marks in your Masters to be able to sit for the recruitment process .

Every state has its own SET exam. You should also check for which course you are giving the exam because there might be slight differences in the eligibility criteria.
